Essentials of Modern Music Theory is a practical, beginner-to-intermediate course designed for young musicians in Singapore and across Asia who want to understand today’s harmony, rhythm, and song-based theory. Through clear explanations, guided exercises, and music examples from pop, R&B, jazz, and film scores, you’ll build the confidence to read chords, analyze progressions, and write your own musical ideas. By the end, you will be able to identify scale types and modes, understand modern chord construction (including extensions), explain common progression functions, and apply rhythm theory to create tighter grooves.
